Alrighty!

Well it's been a while since my last post and now I came back to share what happened for the past few months. I had my job as a Customer Service Associate with T-Mobile. Yeah I tried but it only lasted for two months because of the typhoon Ondoy. We were never prepared. We expected that just like the any other typhoons, we're still safe at home. But Ondoy proved us wrong. The flood lasted for a month. Actually it's running for two months because of the typhoon Santi if I'm not mistaken. Right now we're okay. Thank God. :)

It's really different working in a call center environment. At first, I was hesitant because I thought I cannot move on normally with the new environment. But it's actually cool there. From people to facilities, hands down. I just had a problem with my schedule. I wasn't able to cope up with the clients and socialize or should I say mingle with my family and best friend. :( Even though the salary is really okay, in the end it's not all about the money. I realized that it is more important if you love what you're doing and you do enjoy every single tasks you have. In the end everything will pay off. :)

I came back with my passion: Web Designing and Programming. Good thing I published my site when I was still in the call center. Yipee! I started to update my site, market it to the public for possible clients, etc.

As of today, I had my second job! :) Thanks for the help of my best bud who referred me. I do hope I will be able to do my job well done.

Talking About Strength

I know I'm not the type of person who is showy and sweet to their loved ones but I'm pretty sure that I'm the one who treasures and appreciates everything a person has done for me. I just want to make use of this entry to thank those people and say that I really really love them.

For my parents, I may never be the best daughter that an individual can be but to tell you what I really appreciate everything you have done for me, the moment I step into this world. Thank you so much for all the love, care, support and everything. If ever I would be given the chance to choose my parents, I would definitely choose the two of you. The two most wonderful people in my life. They may not have the job that earns thousands of bucks but every sweat, pain and suffering for our family is priceless. There are times that we misunderstood each other but those things help us be bound with each other more than ever. Thanks for everything Nanay and Tatay. I love the both of you. I know there is a low chance for you to read this but sooner you will be able to learn about this. Hehe. I'm proud of you and I couldn't wish for anything as long as I have the both of you.

For my brother, even though we always argue with each other, I still love you. I really do care for you. I hope you will be able to realize all the things our parents gave us in time. I promise I will be your friend until the end.

For my friend who's always been there for me all the time, thank you. Thanks you so much. If only the people here on earth were like you. Hehe. Thanks for giving me the chance to be your friend. I don't care if I only have a one friend as long as she is true and will be there for you no matter what. Quality over quantity as the saying goes. Hehe right now I really find it hard to face the real world without you. I would always like look for someone who is like you. You know what I mean? Yeah I know. There are things that only the two of us understand. Thanks for everything, for being my protector when I get bullied by those bastards, for influencing me into designing, for making me aware that I should dress properly and so on. Many things and countless times of experiences and misadventures with you is all worth it. My college life will never be happy if I didn't spend it with you. I promise that I will be always be here for you whatever happens. I will be your friend, best friend until my heart no longer beats.

Never Say Die!

It's been almost three months since I graduated and I still don't have a job. Frustating? Yes. Upsetting? Definitely. I applied to several companies, different positions (Software Tester, Business Analyst, Software Test Engineer, C++ Programmer, Computer Programmer, Online Assistant, Java Developer, Blogger, Web Designer, Technical Support Representative) and yet I still haven't found the right job and the right company for me. I don't know if I am the problem or them. Haha. But I think it's me. I actually passed some of the positions but there will always be a thought that pushes me away to take the job. I don't know why. Maybe I'm experiencing a career crisis.

I actually applied to two BPO companies and passed. But of course my mind didn't let me pursue being a Technical Support Representative - even though it means playing Microsoft XBox all the time. Hehe. To share my stupidity, I passed the first BPO company until the final interview of the Recruitment Team and endorsed for 15-day language training. I did not attend the training due to personal and financial reasons. The second BPO company was like a heaven for me. I can say one of my dream company. Fortunately I passed everything - from the initial interview, examinations, final interview and the Operations Manager interview - and I was given the job offer the next day! I never thought that it would be that fast. I was kind of shock on my contract signing day because that day would also be my first working day! Whew. Ending? I get bullied by my training mates for I am only the call center virgin and fresh graduate. I did not attend the second day of training. Too bad I was really weak at that time, emotionally or should I say I will always be weak.

I applied as a C++ Programmer even though my knowledge about C++ is very minimal. Result? No call until now. Haha. We expected that already.

When it comes to Software Testing, Quality Assurance and Business Analyst category, I did not attend the final interview of the first company because of financial matters again. The job is on graveyard shift everyday and you will have a 2 year bond with the company. You have to pay a large amount of money if you want to leave the company. I do not agree with that kind of setup. If I were the owner, I want to have the true loyalty of my employees like the second company. It's my dream company also but I failed the examinations. Haha. The last company, haven't heard anything from them. I took the examination for Business Analyst last Thursday. Hopefully I'll pass and the company won't look at the name of the university but the answers to the exams. Hehe.

I failed when I applied as an Online Assistant. Yeah. It was very degrading for me. A graduate with Latin award didn't succeed even as an Online Assistant? Hehe well, that's life. Until it came to my knowledge, the company is cost-cutting and blah blah.

What do you think is the next application result? Failure? Correct! I applied as a blogger without an online blog to present. Haha silly me! Of course it ended up as a failure. That's why I came up to have this account lately. It's all because of that company. Actually I was able to present myself well in other way. I told them that I had writing experience when I was in grade school and high school. But I really failed when they ask me if I have a laptop computer. Men, it feels like.. haha nothing. Of course I don't have. My family belongs to those simple families with enough food to eat and experience money crisis on a monthly basis. Haha.

Well the moral lesson is to be prepared for all the interviews and examinations. If the job isn't really for you, fate will do anything for you not to get the job even though you qualified and passed. God has plans for us. I believe I knew His plan for me. Right now I'm into web designing again! Hehe I actually left web designing for a while because of all those failed applications stated above. And now, I'm returning back! Thanks God for giving me patience, lots of patience, eagerness to browse so that I could learn more, courage to confidently make friends with other web designers. Right now I have a peer already! He taught me the very first thing that a web designer must have.. a personal website.. an online portfolio of your own.

I realized that I must have my own website as soon as possible! Right now, I finished the content of my site. I also have the interface design. I actually learned XHTML and HTML 4.0, CSS and JavaScript. Not bad for someone who wants to return to her hidden and recently discovered passion. Haha.

I need to learn more about JavaScript and XML so that I can be the Front End Developer I wanted to be. Good luck to me! Hehe.

Wait! I succeeded as a Computer Programmer but haven't heard a call from the company yet. Maybe they found someone who is better than me. No problem with me because all I wanted to be is a.. WEB DESIGNER and not an IT Department all by myself.

Uno! Only in the Phillipene's

Since the card game Uno was developed in 1971 by Merle Robbins, almost everyone are familiar with this although not played but at least have heard. I just want to share something related to this. Hehe. Right now I'm enjoying playing Uno which is powered by GameHouse and embedded in Facebook Applications. It is very exciting if you are able to play with "sport" players and not with the impolite one who tends to leave the game abruptly if their chance of winning is impossible. Few hours ago I played and chatted with someone who is I can say a friendly person but something made me laugh throughout the conversation. I'm gonna share a print screen of the conversation. I don't know if he really doesn't know about our country or he just misspelled it. It seems funny but he did not criticize our country like the other nationalities. He instead told me that he wanted to visit our country as if he's really excited of having a vacation here. He also told me that I belong to those smart people (ehem! haha) of the "Phillipene's" when they experienced a problem with their avatars and then I told them that there is an unpatched bug with the application since it's a beta version only. Haha. It's kind of overwhelming when someone who's got nothing to do with you and your country but knows how to appreciate others. He also told me that there are lots of smart people here. Agree? Yehey!

Charo Ronquillo

Charo Ronquillo is a Filipino model dubbed the Asian Kate Moss. She is the first in the entire 25 year history of the Ford Supermodel of the World Search selected from the far east. She was described by Bill Ford as, "that unique look from the Philippines".

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charo_Ronquillo

Wow! It is very overwhelming for us knowing our fellow Filipinos find success abroad. We're very proud of you Charo! Hehe.

Small Trivia: She's our classmate in Filipino Christian Living 2 under Ma'am Jing Rosaroso. Haha but definitely she doesn't even remember me since we don't have any personal encounter. I'm just a hollow college student while she's a six footer bubbly business stud. Hehe.

If ever by chance she gets to visit this post and make some comments, I will ask for two things: Photo op and signature.

One Rainy Friday Night

Last Friday, June 5, 2009, I went to Glorietta to find lomo cams and then accompany my friend for I will sleep in their house. I left home at 4:00pm. I thought the ride from BiƱan to Ayala would take for about an hour but the hellish traffic proved me wrong! I arrived at 6:20pm and welcomed by the hospitable pouring rain that made me feel hungry so we ordered at McDonald's for takeout only to find out the incoming disaster we will encounter. There's no bus going to Pacita so we walk along EDSA. Walk, walk, walk until we decided to stop and go back to the terminal. Of course my stupidity will surely make a scene during this kind of occasion, not once but twice! I left my slipper in the middle of intersection and left it again while chasing a bus. We could have arrived home earlier but because of my slippers, we're home by 11:00pm. Haha.

Moral lesson: Do not sit beside a sleepy arrogant man so that you can avoid smelling poo-poo. Haha.

The Evolution of My Tech World

While washing the dishes last night before I sleep, I thought of creating a milestone of my computer learning transition haha whatever you may call it. It's just that right now if compared to the time when I was in grade school, no one can say that I have gone this far. Well uhm not far enough for a fulfilled professional. Hehe.

Grade 6 - The very first time I touch a personal computer. Geez! Too old for a noob! Thanks for my adviser for she allow me to encode some information in Microsoft Excel which I don't really know at that time that it's MS Excel. The funny thing about this incident is that when I got home, I told my parents that I know how to use computer. (even if I don't). Haha I just wanted to impress them.

First Year High School - I had my first Computer subject under Mr. Word Hunt. Yeah. Our examinations has word hunt type of test wherein you will see lots of names of my classmates (boys only!). Hehe I don't know why or should I say I'd rather choose not to tell about it because I still respect him but you can always ask my classmates why. Haha. The whole year I learned about the 5 capabilities of Microsoft PowerPoint. The most unforgettable forgettable experience I had here was to answer his quizzes with alpha new meritt and new meritt instead of alpha numeric and numeric! Funny but I felt so stupid at that time. Another occurrence, I paid Php 60.00 for a computerized Social Studies project done by my classmate who has computer, Internet and printer at home. I passed the project having my misspelled name.

Second Year High School - I don't remember any embarrassing experience here. But our Computer teacher taught us Pascal programming language and the ghost story in our computer laboratory. Oh I remember! Here's another forgettable moment. Our Social Studies teacher gave us a project of choosing our President if ever we had a chance and why. At that time I discovered that there is a computer shop near our house who accepts typing job so I went there and let them do my project. But before that I tried to look for a biography of Ping Lacson on bookstores for I still don't know how to use Internet. I wasn't able to have Lacson's life story so I decided to choose Fidel Ramos even if he already finished his term being our President. I'm happy because I was able to pass the project with LOTS of typographical errors, incomplete story but correctly spelled name. Waiting for disaster? Here: Our teacher finished checking our project. After giving us back our projects he shared a blind item as if he's the perfect man alive. He told us that there was this one student who answered the project with a former President which is definitely WRONG for him. He laugh and laugh as if he's a devil's advocate oops a happy Santa Claus I mean.

Third Year High School - Our Computer teacher is also our T.H.E. teacher so when we're having our candle making in T.H.E. we used the Computer Laboratory and a rice cooker for candle melting. We usually don't have classes in our Computer subject since our candles are more important than programming. Haha.

Fouth Year High School - Again, she's our Computer teacher and they learned Visual FoxPro. I learned pressing the play button and playing NES Super Mario Bros.

Vacation Before Going to College - Like any other high school graduate, I was also undecided of what course I'm going to take. During that time, Nurses are the most in demand especially abroad. So I thought that course would be best for me to take. But due to some reasons like the tuition and other school fees I decided not to pursue Nursing. My parents wanted Accountancy for me to relive their frustations. I didn't follow their dream for me since I know myself better. I know that I cannot make it. Until the start of classes is fast approaching I chose to enroll Information Technology because of the fact that there's no board exam after. Haha.

June 2005 - The beginning. Since I don't want to feel stupid on my new environment, I created my first yahoo mail account and Friendster! Haha. Everyday I go to computer shops just to learn uhm Friendster? so that when I meet new classmates and friends I won't be left behind. Hehe during that time Friendster is still in.

College: First Year First Semester - I learned HTML, simple tags that can create simple webpages. I started exlporing the Internet, visits htmlgoodies.com for some tutorials. Although some of the tutorials are hard for me to absorb, I tried and exert some efforts to "forcely" discover those. Haha.

College: First Year
Second Semester - I'm more familiar and comfortable with computers. I learned C++. I had a very good professor so I did all my best to get high grades. Thank God and modesty aside, I'm a quick learner so I learned easily the basics of C++. Basics! Haha.

College: Second Year First Semester: We don't have any hands on programming subject during this semester but I guess we had two major subjects, Opersys and Datalgo in which I get an average of flat one both. Haha.

College: Second Year Second Semester: Our Fileorg subject was all about Java and I believe I already found my weakness: Java Programming. The language didn't catch my attention that much. I don't know if it's because of the situations, environment or the passion to continue learning. Sometimes, even the nerds and geeks know how to get bored studying. So how about the ordinary ones? Hehe. The semester is about to end when I had my own personal computer! Haha better late than never! Thanks to my idol (Tatay). Hehe.

College: Third Year First Semester: My first encounter in Visual Basic 6.0. I don't have any background with this one but through self-studying, I surpassed those "learned classmates" and got a perfect score of 100 together with my one and only friend who happens to be my groupmate and thesis mate also. Hehe.

College: Third Year Second Semester: Accidentally, I joined the Programming Competition in Visual Basic and won. One pfft! for the gay watcher. Haha! :p

College: Fourth Year First Semester: This is the worst semester of my college life. I learned JSP in my OJT. I was able to conduct a seminar for the Artificial Intelligence subject together with my classmates. I discovered my power to do all my projects, programs, assignments, reviews, etc. haphazardly.

College: Fourth Year Second Semester: The best semester of my college years. Why? The fact that this is the last semester means happiness. Whatchamacallit. We received lots of blessings, Magna Cum Laude award, Dean's Lister, and BEST THESIS! Yipee!

My knowledge evolution is too long and boring to read but what I reflected while I'm doing this is that I must keep on doing things that will widen my knowledge especially those related to my chosen career. Never be afraid of asking questions for you will learn. Never stop dreaming and aiming to be the best. Help yourself. Don't waste your time doing nonsensical things! There's a lot more things to do.

First Year:

Introduction to Information Technology = 1.50
Solving Problems Using C Language = 1.25

Second Year:

Operating Systems = 1.00
Data and Algorithms = 1.00

Quality Consciousness = 1.00
Artificial Intelligence = 1.00
Computer Applications 2 (Thesis) = 1.00

I choose to share my grades with my major subjects not to boast it but to inspire someone like me when I was in grade school to keep on dreaming and fulfill that dream. Best of luck!
